Longbow Golf Club - Walker's newest 18-hole championship golf course is located a few minutes outside of town. 

Public Beaches, Trails & Parks

The Heartland Trail The Heartland Trail runs directly through Walker and connects with many communities in the area through the Paul Bunyan trail, offering over 100 miles of paved trail suitable for walking, biking, and rollerblading in the summer and is popular for snowmobiling in the winter.

Whipolt Beach - Situated on the northwest shore of Leech Lake, Whipolt Beach provides a large sandy shoreline and is a a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. It is also typically less busy as it is located about 20 miles from Walker. 

Walker City Beach - Offers a brand new park for kids, a sandy bottom swimming beach, a public access and docks to park your boat.

Lake Erin Loop Trail - Located seven miles southeast of Walker, Minnesota, Lake Erin includes a picnic area and a trail around the lake to take in the beauty of the northern Minnesota woods. 

North Country Trail - Spanning over 850 miles in Minnesota, the North Country Trail is accessible about 10 miles outside of Walker in Hackensack, MN. 

Walker City Docks The city docks offer a convenient place to launch boats, fish, or simply enjoy the views of Leech Lake. Located one block from downtown Walker and next to Chase on the Lake Resort. Public docks are available for use while you explore town or grab a bite to eat. 

Shingobee Recreation AreaJust east of Walker, this recreation area features a swimming beach, picnic areas, and hiking trails.

Local Events 

Ethnic Fest - Hosted annually, Ethnic Fest in Walker celebrates the diversity and heritage of many different cultures and features traditional music, dance, food, crafts, and other activities from various ethnic groups. Check out the chamber website for updated dates and information each year. 

Festival of Lights - Featuring floats and displays that celebrate the start of the Christmas season! Typically scheduled the day after Thanksgiving each year. 

Leech Lake Walleye Tournament - Held in June of each year, the LLWT attracts hundreds of anglers and spectators alike from all over the region.
